After meeting in art school as metal-loving teenagers, the couple forged their musical and emotional alliance while busking through Europe.During an eight-year residence in Galway, Gabriela learned how to transfer the driving bodhran-drum rhythms of Irish folk music to her classical guitar.They have released five studio albums, three live albums and one EP.In 2011 they collaborated with Hans Zimmer on the Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides soundtrack while also contributing to the soundtrack for the Shrek prequel Puss in Boots.The group will be hitting the road and celebrating ten years of the album’s success this spring when they embark on a Rodrigo y Gabriela: Tenth Anniversary Tour starting in late May.Announced on Monday, the 21-date tour will start on May 24 at Seattle’s Showbox So Do, and will take the band across North America, Europe and the United Kingdom before wrapping up on July 14.
The title track of Mettavolution, on the other hand, is a typically dynamic Rodrigo y Gabriela explosion of slaps, strums and rapid-fire runs.

Sure their songs get a bit repetitive if you listen to the album in it's entirety, but seeing Rodrigo Y Gabriela live is a completely different experience. Let's hope it's not the Jack and Meg White question all over again.
